Lyon, Thomas Amauley, 1680
12mo. ( 14.5 x 8 cm), 24 unnumbered pages + 192 pages + 18 unnumbered pages. Collates: a8,e4, A8, B4, C8, D4, E8, F4, G8, H4, I8, K4, L8, M4, N8, O4, P8, Q4, R8. S1.
Readable throughout, but a worn and marked copy. No free endpapers (if there ever were any), the pasted-down endpapers with old writing on them, and a portion of the surface of the endpaper rubbed away. Browning to the pages, and a number of creases and mark, and stains; some pages with a small amount of paper lost from the blank margin at the gutter ( that is where the two facing pages meet), at the top. One leaf with a blank corner missing and another loose for half its length. The title page with some browning and a chip on the edge. The engraved arms at the head of the dedication cut rather close when the book was bound.
Bound in brown leather (the binding probably of about the same date as the book), very worn and rubbed and rather dry, but holding together. Leather lost on the corners, on the raised bands and at the head of the spine. The original label present on the spine, but worn. The front cover does not lie flat when the book is closed, and the book also tends to stand slightly open at one other point.
