Proust, Marcel Cities of the Plain

New York, Albert and Charles Boni, 1927.
1st. American Edition, limited to 2000 numbered copies. 2 volumes, 8vo. (19x13cm), xii + 352 pages and xii + 384 pages respectively. Generally very good condition, a slight crease running through the preliminary pages of vol. 2, the page edges a little dusty when the book is closed. In the publisher ’ s binding, a charming period binding of the 1920 ’ s, with white cloth spines and corners and a striped silver and black paper on the covers. The white cloth just a little marked and the silver paper slightly rubbed, a small piece of the paper torn and missing close to the spine on the back of one volume (aprox. 3 cm long and 0.5 cm wide) and the silver paper chipped in two places on the edge of the book. The endpapers in a pleasingly contrasted mauve paper.
