A handsome set of books in full leather bindings, dark blue with gilt decoration and two red leather labels on each spine.

8vo. (21x13.5cm), each volume approximately 500 pages. A little brown spotting, particularly at the beginning of volume 1, but never obscuring the beautifully printed text, otherwise a very crisp copy. One leaf in volume 6 neatly repaired. The endpapers of a finely marbled paper. Inside the front of each volume is bookplate with the motto;- ‘A Cuspide Corona’, and the crown and spear engraved above the motto.

The blue leather bindings a little scuffed and scrapped, with wear on the corners and some loss to the blue surface at the top and bottom of the spines, but still very handsome.

This early collection of Sir Walter Scott’s non-fictional works includes many of his most important works on literature, including his life of Swift, which fills volume 2 and his long essays on Chivalry, Romance and The Drama in volume 6.
